Job summary

Lumen is seeking a strategic Senior Lead Data Governance Architect to lead delivery of its data governance program within the Telemetry, Observability & Technology team of the Office of the Chief Data Officer.

The role requires hands-on depth in catalog, data quality, and access-control tooling, plus leadership to deliver across a complex, multi‑platform data estate. You will drive governance tooling rollout, define patterns, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or governance tooling implementation, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
• Hands-on implementation experience with Informatica CDGC or a comparable enterprise catalog.
• Experience implementing Databricks Unity Catalog with RBAC and data product registration.
• Experience leading technical delivery for a small team in a multi-platform environment.
• Experience with data quality tooling (Validio, Great Expectations, Soda, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on automation of workflows and data transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full implementation of the enterprise governance catalog (Informatica CDGC) across legacy and modern platforms.
• Define the implementation patterns that governance engineers apply and mentor the team.
• Roll out observability tooling and data quality rule framework with monitoring and alerts.
• Lead technical assessment work for new data tools and platforms.
• Coordinate SailPoint integration design with Information Security and mapping specs.
• Drive phased delivery of the governance technology roadmap from Unity Catalog to policy enforcement.
• Design automated metadata ingestion and data quality deployment using Python/SQL scripts.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and InfoSec to embed governance from the start.
