Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a senior structural analyst to support New Glenn’s second stage development and operations. You will perform detailed hand calculations, FEM analyses, and SEA, guiding design engineers and junior analysts to ensure weight-optimised, reliable structures for reusable launch vehicle components.

You will develop predictions of structural dynamics, document analyses, and participate in peer reviews, with strong emphasis on load paths, materials, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in aircraft/spacecraft/launch-vehicle structures.
• Experience analysing/dispositioning non-conformances.
• Complete hand calculations for load derivation.
• Bolted joint calculations including preload and stiffness.
• Knowledge of materials and structural applications.
• Experience with classical and aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Blodgett, etc.).
• Vehicle load path and stress analysis for metallic/composite structures.
• Proficiency with at least two analysis codes (Ansys, Nastran, OptiStruct, LS‑Dyna, Abaqus).
• Scripting experience (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN).
• FEM modeling techniques and mesh generation understanding.
• Ability to mentor junior analysts and guide design concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations and FEM analysis of aerospace structures for production support.
• Document stress analyses for engineering drawings and release.
• Assess damage or out-of-tolerance conditions and advise on repairs.
• Provide design guidance considering risk, cost, and performance.
• Create and present technical content to internal/external customers.
• Lead cross-organizational collaboration for production and configurations.
• Develop process automation for model creation and report generation.
• Support subsystem test planning, execution, and data reduction.
• Advance enterprise analysis capabilities and tools.
