Job summary

Latham & Watkins is seeking an Associate Recruiting Manager - Lateral Associates to shape how the firm attracts and hires top lateral talent. The role is based in New York, Chicago, or Washington, D.C., with a hybrid schedule option.

You will lead searches end-to-end, provide market intelligence, manage the recruiting team, and collaborate with external search firms to deliver effective recruiting outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Minimum seven (7) years in legal recruitment, with ownership over lateral recruiting.
• At least two (2) years leading or developing others, including project leadership.
• Experience using data and market information to guide decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with practice, department, and office leaders to understand hiring needs and develop tailored lateral associate recruiting strategies.
• Serve as trusted advisor by providing market intelligence, candidate insights, and practical guidance throughout the recruiting process.
• Lead lateral associate searches from initial strategy and candidate identification through interviews, offers, and hiring.
• Identify opportunities to recruit through direct sourcing, attorney referrals, search firms, and other channels.
• Build and manage relationships with external search firms and vendors, including fee negotiation and process improvement.
• Prepare and communicate recruiting statistics, market updates, and progress reports.
• Organize, delegate, and coordinate staff work, manage workflow, and conduct evaluations.
• Protect highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
