Job summary
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, seeks a Laser Engineer to support the National Ignition Facility (NIF) laser systems engineering, operations, and maintenance on-site. You will run and maintain advanced laser systems and support hardware, lead projects to improve laser capabilities, and collaborate across NIF sections to meet objectives.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Laser and Electro-Optics, Physics, Optical Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Advanced knowledge of complex laser and electro-optical systems and data acquisition.
- Experience with high-energy laser systems and full life cycle engineering.
- Experience with optical/electro-optical systems including alignment and diagnostics.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and improve complex laser systems and diagnostics.
- Perform alignment, calibration, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
- Create bench tests and QA on new hardware.
- Plan work activities with teams and the wider facility.
- Use software to analyze data and simulate physical phenomena.
- Document performance, tests, and configurations.
- Provide on-call technical support for 24/7 operations.
