Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks experienced Pulsed Power Electrical Engineers to support the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science program. Candidates will design, qualify, and upgrade high-energy pulsed power hardware in a 24/7 mission facility, collaborating with operations teams to ensure reliability and shot readiness.

This hands-on role requires a strong background in HV pulsed power, power electronics, controls, diagnostics, and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field (or equivalent).
• Experience with high-voltage/pulsed power systems and power electronics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and upgrade pulsed power hardware for NIF laser systems.
• Lead qualification and testing of new Power Conditioning Modules.
• Define test plans, acceptance criteria and qualification approaches.
• Analyze electrical performance under dynamic loads and EMI conditions.
• Document designs, tests, and hazard analyses.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and vendors on hardware builds.
