Job summary

Caliberr Staffing seeks a Laser Scanner Technician II/III to perform precision 3D laser scans and dimensional analyses for automotive manufacturing launches, tooling validation, and continuous improvements. You will generate accurate point clouds, compare CAD models, and partner with Quality, Product and Manufacturing Engineering teams daily.

The role requires 5+ years in metrology or laser scanning, expertise with FARO, PolyWorks, and GD&T interpretation, plus willingness to travel domestically

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Metrology or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive manufacturing, laser scanning, metrology or dimensional inspection.
• Proven track record leading complex launch-related or measurement projects.
• Expertise in 3D laser scanner systems, especially FARO.
• Experience with PolyWorks and other metrology software.
• Ability to interpret GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform 3D laser scanning and dimensional evaluations for assemblies and components.
• Produce precise point clouds and CAD comparisons using metrology software.
• Evaluate dimensional variances to identify deviations and support quality improvements.
• Support production launches, tooling trials, validation tasks, and engineering modifications.
• Carry out first-piece inspections and comprehensive dimensional studies.
• Partner with engineering to assess manufacturing capabilities and tooling performance.
• Contribute to root cause analysis for fit-up issues and dimensional discrepancies.
• Ensure metrology hardware remains calibrated and accurate.
• Refine and establish best practices, measurement techniques, and scanning procedures.
• Travel to various production sites to assist with measurement needs.
• Provide project support across US, Mexico, and Canada.
• Adhere to environmental, quality, and safety protocols.
