The City of Raleigh is looking for a Senior Landscaping Maintenance Technician to join its Transportation Department. This role involves operating heavy equipment for landscape maintenance, such as boom loaders and automated leaf trucks, and requires a high school diploma along with relevant maintenance experience. The City of Raleigh is seeking a A Senior Landscaping Maintenance Technicianto join our Transportation Department. This role will operate various types of heavy equipment for landscape maintenance including A-Boom and knuckleboom loaders; assist with planting flowers, trees, and shrubs; operate automated leaf truck or dump truck with walk behind leaf machine during leaf collection; operate snow and ice removal equipment; operate anti-icing equipment. Other street maintenance related duties may be assigned as needed. You will be responsible for using Cityworks to create, update, and close service requests and work orders; you will also be using Quick Capture and other programs to record data related to assigned duties.
About You:If you are our candidate for this job, you will have experience in construction methods and materials, basic construction safety, and be capable of leading by example and earning the respect of your coworkers. As you learn and develop in this role, you will be responsible for operating a range of haul vehicles, including flat bed and dump trucks, as well as wide variety of construction equipment such as knuckleboom loaders and A-Boom loaders. Your expertise will eventually extend to special function equipment, such as both automated and walk-behind leaf collection trucks, and snow and ice removal equipment. You will lead by example and utilize manual and power tools to execute tasks such as properly maintaining grounds including trees and shrubs by mowing, vacuuming, fertilizing, trimming, pruning, etc. including medians along major thoroughfares and I-440; operating a dump truck with snow removal equipment during inclement weather; performing regular service and maintenance on all grounds equipment; completing and maintaining required records and reports; recording daily work activities in Cityworks; and contributing to general street maintenance activities. You will be required to work extended hours on rotating shifts during leaf collection, emergencies, and inclement weather.

About Us:Joining our Transportation Maintenance Division will provide an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the maintenance of critical infrastructure such as sidewalks, curbs and gutter, asphalt, and storm drains. As a member of our 218 person staff, you will contribute to maintenance of 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks; the upkeep of over 33,000 curb ramps; and the protection of 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes connecting more than 32,000 drainage inlets.
The Transportation Landscape Maintenance Unit is responsible for maintaining medians and rights-of-way throughout the City by trimming trees, bushes, and grass, and by planting various trees and plants each season.
Operates various types of heavy equipment including knuckleboom loader, A-Boom loader, landscaping equipment, automated leaf trucks, dump truck with walk behind leaf machines, anti-icing equipment, snow and ice removal equipment
Hauls equipment, tools, and staff to job sites
Oversees and performs semi-skilled general maintenance
Selects proper maintenance tools and equipment for tasks
Oversees and performs work following established safety policies and procedures and applicable codes and regulations
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment by changing out worn or damaged parts, monitoring safe operational use, and/or cleaning equipment
Inspects facilities and structures; identifies and documents required repairs
Has the skills, ability, and desire to train and develop others.
Will be required to work extended hours on rotating shifts during emergencies and inclement weather
