Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist III to serve as a technical resource and SME for caregivers across the system. You will combine hands-on laboratory expertise with quality oversight, troubleshooting, staff competency and continuous improvement to ensure accurate, reliable, and efficient laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent.
• MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of five years of experience in the area, including at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Subspecialty ASCP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for assigned laboratory sections, serving as a key resource for instrumentation, methodology, troubleshooting and pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic testing issues.
• Oversee quality assurance activities, including quality control review, method comparisons, analytic measurement range verification, corrective actions and preparation for CAP and Joint Commission inspections.
• Perform and maintain method validation and verification studies and assist with the research, implementation and documentation of new procedures and methodologies.
• Review and validate abnormal test results, troubleshoot complex instrumentation and testing issues, and help ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results.
• Support the development of laboratory caregivers through competency assessments, training and cross-training while providing technical direction to MLS I and II and Specimen Processing caregivers.
