Job summary

ChristianaCare’s General Laboratory team seeks a Laboratory Technical Specialist III to serve as a technical resource and SME. You will blend hands-on lab expertise with quality oversight, troubleshooting, staff competency, and continuous improvement to ensure accurate, reliable operations across the system.

You will lead instrumentation, validate tests, mentor MLS staff, and support CAP and Joint Commission readiness, while maintaining rigorous QC and process improvements in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent.
  • MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the area of expertise, including at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Subspecialty ASCP certification.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, instrumentation and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and communicate effectively with laboratory staff and clinical partners.

Job description

Join our General Laboratory team as a Laboratory Technical Specialist III, serving as a technical resource and subject matter expert for laboratory caregivers across the system. In this role, you?ll combine hands-on laboratory expertise with quality oversight, troubleshooting, staff competency and continuous improvement to help ensure accurate, reliable and efficient laboratory operations.

What You?ll Do

  • Provide technical leadership for assigned laboratory sections, serving as a key resource for instrumentation, methodology, troubleshooting and pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic testing issues.

  • Oversee quality assurance activities, including quality control review, method comparisons, analytic measurement range verification, corrective actions and preparation for CAP and Joint Commission inspections.

  • Perform and maintain method validation and verification studies and assist with the research, implementation and documentation of new procedures and methodologies.

  • Review and validate abnormal test results, troubleshoot complex instrumentation and testing issues, and help ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results.

  • Support the development of laboratory caregivers through competency assessments, training and cross-training while providing technical direction to MLS I and II and Specimen Processing caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent.

  • MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification through an approved credentialing organization such as ASCLS, CLIS or AMT.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the area of expertise, including at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Subspecialty ASCP certification required.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, instrumentation and troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, determine appropriate solutions and communicate effectively with laboratory caregivers, leadership, physicians and other clinical partners.

Schedule

  • Day Shift: 6:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
  • No weekends. No holidays.

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 – $67.37

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare?s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
