Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to join the General Laboratory. The role involves processing, sorting and delivering lab specimens, labeling, prioritizing work, and communicating specimen priority to testing staff.

Evening shift, Monday–Friday, 3:00pm–11:30pm, with every other weekend and 2–3 holidays per year. Qualified candidates have an associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or health science, or a high school diploma with at least five years in

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required or a High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from similar hospital system.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips.
• Print and affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens.
• Prioritize incoming work to maintain stated turnaround times for stat testing.
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery.
