Job summary

ChristianaCare’s General Laboratory team seeks a Laboratory Technical Specialist III to serve as a technical resource and SME. You will blend hands-on lab expertise with quality oversight, troubleshooting, staff competency, and continuous improvement to ensure accurate, reliable operations across the system.

You will lead instrumentation, validate tests, mentor MLS staff, and support CAP and Joint Commission readiness, while maintaining rigorous QC and process improvements in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent.
• MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of five years of experience in the area of expertise, including at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Subspecialty ASCP certification.
• Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques, procedures, instrumentation and troubleshooting.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and communicate effectively with laboratory staff and clinical partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for assigned laboratory sections and act as a resource for instrumentation, methodology, troubleshooting.
• Oversee quality assurance activities including quality control review, method comparisons and CAP/Joint Commission preparations.
• Perform and validate method validation/verification studies and support new procedures.
• Review abnormal results, troubleshoot instrumentation and ensure timely reporting of results.
• Develop staff competency through training and cross-training, providing direction to MLS I/II and Specimen Processing staff.
