Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Lab Operations Lead to support Lab QA/QI programs, coordinate testing, and oversee instrumentation maintenance. You will lead staff, manage proficiency testing, and assist in policy development in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Requirements include a CLS/MT credential, CLIA/CAP knowledge, and 4 years of lab testing experience with leadership exposure. A master’s degree is preferred and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent education.
• Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist certification with continuing education maintenance (ASCP/AMT/AAB).
• 4 years of laboratory experience performing testing on human samples.
• At least 1 year in a lead/senior role in a clinical lab with potential for 3 years total seniority.
• Knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership of lab projects (test validation, process improvement, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills (written, oral).
• Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Support the Alliance Lab quality improvement/quality assurance program with Lab Quality team.
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluations; document continued competency and ongoing education.
• Coordinate proficiency testing as required by lab accrediting agencies.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development and revisions with Testing Manager and Compliance team.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
• Manage maintenance of instrumentation and inventories; advise on new equipment and supplies.
