Job summary

University of Washington in Seattle seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead for the UWMC Northwest Lab. You will oversee routine testing across hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, and urinalysis, while coordinating QC, validation, and training.

The role requires strong leadership, adherence to QA, and collaboration with departmental managers. The position includes a night shift, 100% FTE, and occasional telework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent education/experience.
• MLS certification with a pathology certification body or equivalent.
• Three years of professional experience including one year as MLS 2 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing across Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Urinalysis.
• Evaluate quality control and QC data in LIS and QA systems.
• Train staff and students; contribute to competency development and safety procedures.
