Job summary

Amazon Robotics seeks a Lab Safety Engineer to lead the EHS department at a California robotics lab. This permanent role reports to the AR EHS Global Lab Safety Manager and may include relocation.

You will drive OSHA/Cal/BOCA/NFPA compliance, perform risk assessments, influence machine safety design, and collaborate with HR, Engineering and Facilities to create a culture of safety for all employees in the lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field required.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Owning EHS compliance for a robotics research and development lab.
• Conducting risk assessments and driving implementation of risk reduction measures.
• Advising employees and management on occupational health and safety and environmental regulations.
• Advising and influencing designs around machinery safety requirements and standards.
• Implementing legal and Amazon internal requirements in occupational health safety and environmental regulations.
• Working with HR, Engineering, and Facilities to ensure compliance.
• Ensuring compliance with California OSHA laws and guidelines and company policies.
• Evaluating accidents and statistics to develop prevention programs.
