Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Lab Safety Engineer to lead the EHS department at the California robotics lab. Relocation is possible if criteria are met, reporting to the AR EHS Global Lab Safety Manager. The role drives safety programs, ensures compliance with CA regulations, and collaborates with HR, Engineering and Facilities.

The ideal candidate has a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, hands-on design-to-deployment experience, and strong knowledge of power systems and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience turning new design concepts through exploration, development and deployment or mass production.
• Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Owning EHS compliance for a robotics research and development lab.
• Conducting risk assessments and driving implementation of risk reduction measures.
• Advising employees and management on occupational health and safety and environmental regulations.
• Advising and influencing designs around machinery safety requirements and standards.
• Implementing legal and Amazon internal requirements in occupational health safety and environmental regulations.
• Working with HR, Engineering, Facilities to ensure compliance.
• Ensuring compliance with California Occupational Safety and Health laws and guidelines and company policies.
• Evaluating accidents and statistics and developing prevention programs.
• Supporting environmental regulations and programs.
• Creating a safe work culture and promoting dedication to health and safety measures.
