Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL is seeking a skilled Laboratory Calibration and Automation Specialist to develop, install, validate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and automated systems. The role includes documenting procedures, training staff, and ensuring safety and compliance across facilities.

You will drive continuous improvement, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage capital projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering or related discipline.
Generally, 6 years directly related experience in calibration and/or development and support of laboratory instrumentation, automation tools and processes.
Demonstrates ability to solve problems and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to coach and mentor laboratory support personnel.

Responsibilities

Develops and applies new laboratory instrumentation and automated test systems for testing and upgrading infrastructure.
Supports installation, testing and validation of instrumentation to ensure quality compliance.
Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools.
Records data and maintains documentation of laboratory support activities.
Leads laboratory capital projects including budget, schedule, vendor interaction, and facilities support.
