Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a results-driven engineer for roles at our Northbrook, IL site. The position involves defining project scope, planning investigations, and coordinating testing activities to ensure UL requirements are met.

You will work directly with clients, discuss project costs, timelines and sample needs, and provide technical support while maintaining safety and quality standards across lab operations. Training and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Approximately 0–2+ years of experience.
• Customer-facing experience is a plus.
• Training will be provided.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Determines project scope and develops preliminary investigation plans.
• Coordinates laboratory activities and schedules technicians.
• Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.
• Provides technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services.
• Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Examines samples for compliance with UL requirements and notifies client of deviations.
• May serve as Project Handler of record or Reviewer of record as assigned.
• Prepares data sheets and instructions to technicians, and coordinates administrative aspects of project management.
• Communicates project status and results to clients through reports and follow-up information pages.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
• May coordinate and/or perform File Reviews, as directed.
