UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL is seeking an analytical laboratory professional to support testing programs. You will follow test plans, evaluate results and maintain instruments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering and lab staff, training others, and contributing to process improvements while upholding safety and quality standards. A Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related field and 1–2 years of lab experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with high quality and customer service.
• Ability to partner with Engineering and Lab Personnel to complete projects in a timely manner.
• Ability to analyze special testing needs.
• Effective communication with customers.
• Innovative and creative thinking.
• Team-oriented environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to incorporate automation into testing.
• 1–2 years of analytical lab experience preferred.
• Experience in IR, TGA, and DSC testing preferred.

Responsabilités

• Follow defined test plans and datasheets with supervision.
• Evaluate test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
• Record and explain test results and complete test report.
• Lead simple test programs as assigned with assistance.
• Communicate project status and results as needed.
• Define test plan, report completion and accuracy, meeting deadlines, and manage related activities.
• Examine customer samples and operate appropriate tests with support.
• Communicate with internal customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
• Direct, build and/or adapt simple test setups, samples and instruments to new situations.
• Train other lab staff on test procedures or instruments.
• Operate and maintain test instruments to measure samples.
• Perform maintenance on designated test instruments and lab area.
• Integrate basic process and instrument improvements into testing workflows.
• Communicate with management and staff to suggest new instruments, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Follow safe chemical hygiene practices.
