Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Learning & Development Specialist to design, develop, and deploy learning solutions across the Aeronautics Systems sector. The role focuses on instructional design, building measurable objectives, and delivering engaging training in virtual or in-person formats, with travel up to 25%.

You will lead projects through the ADDIE lifecycle, collaborate with SMEs, and assess training impact using surveys and analytics, while ensuring alignment with DoD security

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's; 3+ years with a Masters; 1+ year with a PhD.
• Willing to work any shift including days, nights and weekends.
• Experience developing and deploying training or technical development programs in corporate, military or defense settings.
• Experience developing, implementing, or managing training management systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop measurable learning objectives using Bloom’s taxonomy and manage cognitive load.
• Apply instructional design theories to create impactful training materials.
• Consult on L&D projects and provide thought leadership.
• Develop and deliver innovative virtual and in-person training offerings.
• Collaborate with SMEs on planning, development, and sustainment of talent development solutions.
• Conduct SME interviews to collect information on high-priority skills.
• Manage L&D projects through the full ADDIE lifecycle with goals and timelines.
• Prepare presentations and brief stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Design and implement upskilling solutions applying adult learning principles.
• Train employees within the Mission Assurance organization.
• Create training programs and materials addressing identified needs.
• Develop in-person and online sessions, workshops, and e-learning modules.
• Develop evaluation tools to assess training effectiveness.
• Analyze feedback and performance data to measure impact.
