Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking a Principal Kubernetes Engineer to design, build, and evolve a secure platform‑as‑a‑service supporting Space Systems Command and the broader mission environment.

You will lead a hands‑on team across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments, delivering scalable Kubernetes services with automation and secure practices. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in Kubernetes platforms, a CKA, DoD‑level clearance, and a Bachelor’s in a related field.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance at the time of application.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience designing, building, and operating production Kubernetes platforms.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• Current DoD-approved Information Assurance certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
• Experience designing, building, securing, and operating enterprise Kubernetes platforms across hybrid cloud and on‑premises environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate enterprise Kubernetes platforms supporting secure hybrid cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Architect scalable, highly available platform services for secure software delivery across mission environments.
• Develop reusable platform capabilities to simplify deployment, operations, and lifecycle management.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code, automation, and continuous delivery practices to improve consistency and reliability.
• Engineer secure Kubernetes services with identity management, policy enforcement, workload isolation, and secret management.
• Collaborate with platform/cloud/cybersecurity engineers and software teams to deliver integrated platform solutions.
• Improve observability with metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and proactive monitoring.
