Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Principal Kubernetes Engineer to lead the design, development, and ongoing evolution of a secure PaaS for the U.S. Space Force. You will be the senior technical lead for a Kubernetes platform, guiding secure, scalable services across hybrid environments and championing automation, IaC, and observability.

Travel 25% as needed. The role requires 8+ years building production Kubernetes platforms and strong Azure Cloud expertise, plus a Secret clearance and CKA certification.

Qualifications

• Must have Masters with 15+ years of experience or Doctorate with 13+ years; additional years accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 8+ years designing, building, and operating production Kubernetes platforms.
• Strong expertise in Azure Cloud Engineering and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience architecting platforms across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
• Proven ability to implement IaC, automation, CI/CD to provision and operate platform services.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, networking, containers, distributed systems, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate enterprise Kubernetes platforms for secure hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Architect scalable, highly available platform services enabling secure software delivery.
• Develop reusable platform capabilities to simplify deployment and lifecycle management.
• Implement infrastructure as code, automation, and continuous delivery for reliability.
• Engineer secure Kubernetes services with identity, policy, secrets, and platform hardening.
• Improve platform observability with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design integrated platform solutions.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews and mentoring.
