Job summary

H-E-B Digital Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to deliver complex code solutions and support CI/CD pipelines across distributed Kubernetes clusters. The role emphasizes on-call production support, system design, security, and scalable, reliable platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive platform engineering practices, and collaborate with multiple teams to balance reliability with business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent training/experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks.
• Advanced knowledge of system and data architecture, data modeling, and design patterns.
• Review platform designs for performance, sustainability and iterative development.
• Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence.
• Strong track record of delivering high-quality results.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns, system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and manage lifecycle of distributed Kubernetes clusters across on-prem, cloud, and edge locations.
• Develop platform capabilities and automation for provisioning, upgrades, security hardening, and day-2 operations at scale.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and automation.
• Apply TDD/BDD to improve software quality and reliability.
• Define and measure SLIs/SLOs, monitor and improve platform health and performance.
• Collaborate across engineering, security, and business teams to deliver multi-domain capabilities.
• Maintain clear documentation, diagrams, and runbooks; drive documentation culture.
• Mentor engineers in coding, testing, debugging, and platform practices.
