Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in San Diego is seeking a kernel/embedded C leader to drive high-performance networking for EC2 VPC.

You will mentor a small team, guide architecture decisions and participate in design reviews while implementing optimized code for millions of packets per second on a CPU core. The role requires deep C/C++ expertise, hands-on leadership and collaboration with cross-functional teams to bring new SDN capabilities to AWS scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years leading a team in architecture, mentoring and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Be the lead engineer on a small team, mentoring junior engineers and setting development practices.
• Hands-on leadership: guide architecture decisions, designs, code reviews and implementation.
• Maintain knowledge of rapidly changing tech and bring in new technologies.
• Communicate with users, other teams and management to collect requirements and describe features.
