Located in Normal, IL, this role reports to the Manager, Joining Engineering and involves collaboration across manufacturing, quality, and maintenance to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Weld Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in Manufacturing, Automotive preferred.
• 1–3+ years in automotive environment, supporting joining processes.
• Experience with multiple joining technologies (RSW, GMAW, SPR, FDS, LBW, Dispense, TOX, DAW) on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Work within quality processes to ensure integrity of automotive assemblies.
• Plant floor troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and training on welding/joining equipment.
• Experience with robotic welding and joining.
• Understanding of weld assembly tooling.
• Strong data management and MS Excel skills.
• Experience with GD&T and 2D/3D modeling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering on equipment design, buyoff, and installation for new model launch activities.
• Assist evaluating cell layout, rack design, PFMEA development.
• Coach safety, quality, and production on standardized work development.
• Lead continuous improvement and drive cross-functional problem solving.
• Optimize processes to maximize productivity while maintaining quality, productivity, and maintenance.
• Support equipment runoff and ensure product and process meet plant KPIs for mass production.
• Partner with operations to reduce downtime and improve process efficiencies.
• Lead projects, define scope, and manage capital budgets.
