Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Microservices Engineer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale payment applications capable of handling high-volume transactions. You will collaborate with architects, DevOps, and security teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Hybrid work model with three days per week in Chicago, IL, and a focus on performance, observability, and robust CI/CD pipelines in PCF environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of strong experience building enterprise applications using Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing Microservices-based architectures.
• Experience with JMS, messaging frameworks, and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven application development.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications on PCF.
• Proven experience with application performance tuning, JVM optimization, and production support.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, and security scan compliance.
• Experience supporting high-volume payment, transaction-processing, or messaging-based platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, Microservices, JMS, Kafka, and PCF.
• Drive end-to-end implementation of microservices architectures, defining service boundaries and deployment strategies.
• Deliver technical solutions for complex design challenges and troubleshoot production issues.
• Optimize JVM-based applications and payment services to achieve low latency and high throughput.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments in PCF.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and communicate project status to stakeholders.
• Promote engineering excellence through automation and reusable frameworks.
