Job summary

Mastercard in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and evolve secure Java/Spring Boot microservices for a global B2B payments platform. You will apply AI-assisted development across the software lifecycle and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and testers in an Agile environment.

You will work in a hybrid role based in Arlington, requiring three days onsite weekly, with a focus on security, scalability, and reliability across high-volume workloads.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing Java applications, Spring Boot services, RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-native development.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality.
• Strong SQL and database development skills with PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Knowledge of OAuth, mutual TLS, encryption, and secure coding practices.
• Experience in Agile environments with CI/CD and Git-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve secure, scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices and APIs for Mastercard’s B2B platform.
• Translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions and contribute to system architecture.
• Build and integrate services across Angular apps, databases, internal platforms, and third-party systems.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and reviews.
• Ensure security, performance, scalability, and reliability with enterprise security patterns.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and TPMs to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Mentor engineers and participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
