Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for our indices prototyping platform. The role is hybrid with 2 onsite days per week in NYC or Princeton, NJ, and involves designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments.

You will mentor engineers, lead feature delivery, and collaborate across teams to ensure performance, scalability, and quality. Candidates should have 8+ years of Java experience, Spring, microservices, SQL, AWS, and CI/CD familiarity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java development experience on distributed systems.
• Strong Java 8 Streams, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud experience.
• Experience designing microservices and scalable cloud deployments.
• Proficient in SQL and data modelling.
• Familiarity with AWS services and DevOps/CI-CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of applications using modern Java frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and fix bottlenecks and bugs.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop scalable, fault-tolerant microservices deployed to cloud infrastructure.
• Implement containerization strategies for deployments.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
