Job summary

JPMorganChase in New Jersey seeks a Lead Software Engineer to help build and modernize platforms for alternative investments. You will lead a hands‑on Java/Spring Boot development effort, migrate critical applications to AWS, and shape scalable, secure architectures with strong observability and AI‑assisted tooling.

You will mentor teams and drive best practices across the SDLC in a cloud‑native environment.

Qualifications

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
Proven hands‑on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments.
Advanced proficiency in Java (enterprise backend development) with Spring Boot.
Hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating integrations using messaging/event streaming (Kafka/AWS MSK/SQS/SNS/Kinesis).
Cloud‑native experience on AWS; building/deploying/operating services in the cloud.
Experience leading enterprise‑approved AI‑assisted software development tools and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure handling of data.

Responsibilities

Regularly provides technical guidance to business and technical teams.
Develops secure, high‑quality production code and reviews others' code.
Drives AI‑assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and operations; set validation standards.
Applies SDLC toolchain knowledge to improve automation and value at scale.
Drives design decisions affecting product functionality and operations.
Acts as SME in one or more focus areas and advocates SDLC frameworks and tools.
