Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices in New Jersey is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable distributed systems for our prototyping platform. You will lead development using Java, Spring, and AWS, delivering high-quality, fault-tolerant services and mentoring junior engineers.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft features, optimize performance, and ensure robust testing and deployment pipelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of strong Java experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying complex projects.
• Strong Java skills with experience in concurrent and distributed systems.
• Experience with Java 8 Streams API.
• 5+ yrs of Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and Hazelcast.
• 5+ yrs of SQL knowledge and experience.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices; unit/integration tests; SQL queries; data modeling.
• Exposure to AWS cloud (EC2, ECS, Load Balancer, Lambda, S3).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of applications using modern languages and frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify bottlenecks and fix bugs.
• Maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
• Develop scalable and fault-tolerant applications; utilize cloud services for deployments.
• Implement containerization strategies for applications.
• Develop front-end interfaces using modern technologies.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
