Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer for a hybrid New York, NY role. You will develop backend services and web applications, collaborate with frontend teams, and ensure clean, tested code.

You should have strong Java fundamentals, Spring, REST APIs, React, SQL (PostgreSQL), and experience with Git and Maven/Gradle. The role emphasizes design collaboration, Agile teamwork, and delivery within sprints.

Qualifications

• Strong Java fundamentals with modern features (Java 21 preferred).
• Experience with Spring Framework (Spring 4+) and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Proficient in building and consuming REST APIs.
• Good knowledge of React (v17) and UI-backend integration.
• Solid understanding of web app architecture and client-server communication.
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency with version control (Git) and build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Focus on clean code, unit tests, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to design, development, and deployment of backend services and web apps.
• Writes clean, tested code following engineering practices.
• Participates in technical design discussions with senior engineers and architects.
• Collaborates with frontend developers to integrate backend with UI.
• Supports troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning.
