Allstate seeks a Managing Engineer to lead high-performing software teams responsible for enterprise applications that support Roadside Services operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with active Java coding and technical contribution alongside people leadership.

You will drive technical strategy, partner with product and business stakeholders, and foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise applications and team leadership.
• Experience managing or leading engineers in Agile environments.
• Willingness to stay hands-on with coding while leading.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot development experience for enterprise apps.
• Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, and cloud-native development.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience partnering with Product Management and business stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Aufgaben

• Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams with mentorship and performance feedback.
• Remain hands-on with Java coding, review code, troubleshoot issues, support delivery.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to translate goals into tech solutions.
• Guide teams through discovery, planning, prioritization, and delivery in Agile environments.
• Establish and evolve architectures, roadmaps, and engineering standards.
• Drive engineering excellence with modern practices including automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and secure coding.
• Ensure applications are scalable, secure, reliable, and production-supported.
• Remove obstacles to execution and priorities.
• Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement to boost delivery and quality.
• Foster collaboration across teams for alignment and reusability.
• Support workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development.
• Define and monitor engineering metrics related to quality, delivery, reliability, and performance.
• Serve as trusted advisor on best practices and emerging technologies.
