Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and deliver scalable cloud-based applications and analytics solutions for high-volume operations. You will work with engineering leads, product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to produce high-quality software.

This role supports hybrid work with 2-3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Sunnyvale, California or Bentonville, Arkansas, with flexibility and a focus on production stability, cloud platforms,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or similar technologies.
• Strong experience with Kafka or other enterprise messaging and event-streaming platforms.
• Experience designing and building large-scale, high-volume, distributed applications.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and Scrum practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deployment technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate effectively with business and engineering stakeholders.
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable Java-based applications and analytics solutions deployed on cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to analyze requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Develop high-quality code using industry best practices, create unit tests, and meet established code coverage standards.
• Support application deployment, testing, production releases, and ongoing operational stability.
• Design and implement monitoring, observability, and performance optimization solutions aligned with client standards.
• Document application architecture, technical designs, and service specifications while providing guidance to development teams.
