Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Backend Lead Developer to design and deliver scalable, cloud-based applications and analytics solutions. You will lead a capable engineering team, work with program managers, technology leads, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable software.

You will drive technical excellence across the SDLC, promote cloud-native practices, and ensure production readiness.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience building scalable backend apps in high-volume environments.
• Hands-on Kafka or enterprise messaging experience.
• Experience deploying apps on a major cloud platform.
• CI/CD, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions in Agile Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable backend apps and analytics using Java and cloud tech.
• Collaborate with PMs, tech leads, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Develop high-quality features with unit tests and code coverage.
• Provide technical guidance and prepare specifications and designs.
• Oversee testing, deployment and production readiness with monitoring.
