Job summary

Cloud and Things seeks a Back Java Developer to support the NYS IES modernization, designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java applications for health and human services in a hybrid New York City setting.

You will collaborate with architects, testers, analysts, and product managers, contribute to SDLC, build microservices, REST APIs, and ensure security, reliability, and performance across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Java developer with J2EE and OOP.
• 2+ years in a leadership role on complex projects.
• Experience with NYS Integrated Eligibility System or similar health and human services is a plus.
• Strong cloud, container, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Proven collaboration with agile teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-volume, low-latency Java applications.
• Translate business requirements into scalable solutions.
• Build microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects across SDLC.
• Troubleshoot production issues and memory leaks.
• Improve Java infrastructure for performance and longevity.
• Support deployment and monitor integrations for stability.
• Contribute to technical and user documentation.
