Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join its Applications Development team. You will design, build, and own high-performance Java applications for global scale, including RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, and you will ensure quality, reliability, and maintainability in a fast-paced environment.

You will work in a hybrid model with production-grade code ownership, drive architectural decisions, and contribute to testing, CI/CD, and production support across critical financial systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience, with cloud-based environments and distributed systems.
• Expert-level Java, RESTful APIs, and cloud engineering principles, with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, MQ, and Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code for high-volume, low-latency applications.
• Architect RESTful APIs and scalable backend services using Spring and Spring Boot.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and design artefacts.
• Identify and adopt emerging technologies to enhance the application stack.
• Build and maintain comprehensive testing automation for unit/integration/performance tests.
• Lead peer code reviews to raise engineering standards.
• Take full accountability for production systems and rapid issue resolution.
• Collaborate with analysts and project managers to deliver high-quality software and documentation.
