Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support Intelligence Community and DoD customers from Herndon, VA or Aurora, CO. You will design, develop, and operate scalable data ingestion pipelines and Java-based data processing apps for mission-critical systems.

Collaborating with data scientists and aerospace engineers, you will implement data quality and governance, build secure APIs, and ensure performance and reliability in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request; contract requires TS/SCI with poly.
• Must be proficient in Java (Model, Entity, DTO, DAO).
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing scalable data ingestion pipelines using Apache NiFi.
• Develop and maintain Java-based data processing applications ensuring high performance, reliability, and security.
• Design and manage NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
• Build and expose secure Data APIs (RESTful/GraphQL) for internal and external applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate data requirements into solutions.
• Implement data quality, validation, and governance in data pipelines.
• Monitor and optimize data workflows and database performance.
• Contribute to full software development lifecycle, agile methodologies.
• Stay updated on data engineering, cloud computing, and space industry practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage MongoDB databases for large, heterogeneous space-domain data.
• Build secure RESTful and GraphQL Data APIs for internal and external use.

• Ensure data quality, governance, and reliability across pipelines.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows and databases.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
• Keep current with data engineering and cloud computing practices.
