Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Senior Java Backend / Full-Stack Engineer to join our Newark, DE team on a contract basis. You will leverage Java/J2EE, Spring ecosystem, RESTful and SOAP services to deliver high-volume, secure applications.

The role requires strong distributed systems experience, Front-end exposure (Handlebars/Vue/ReactJS), and a solid testing, CI/CD mindset. Onsite/hybrid work in Newark, DE with 3 days onsite per week is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience building and supporting high-volume applications.
• Strong Java/J2EE, Spring, RESTful and SOAP services.
• Front-end work with Handlebars, Vue or ReactJS.
• Proficiency with XML/JSON binding and unit testing.
• Experience with Git, Maven, Bitbucket, and IDEs (Eclipse or similar).
• Familiar with monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace) and MQ tech.
• Knowledge of JVM tuning and Groovy scripting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
• Design, code, and unit test interfaces for seamless integration.
• Apply robust development and testing practices for web apps.
• Contribute to story refinement and requirements definition.
• Estimate effort and guide delivery through the lifecycle.
• Perform spikes to mitigate risk and validate ideas.
• Use multi-layer architecture across data, application, and business.
• Assist team in resolving technical complexities and triage issues.
• Enhance test suites and document deployment and maintenance details.
