Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Backend Java Developer to design and implement scalable Java-based services using Spring Boot, REST/SOAP APIs, and microservices. The hybrid Newark, DE role requires 3 onsite days per week, and involves Agile ceremonies, CI/CD, and production support.

A 12-month contract with a competitive pay rate is offered. The ideal candidate will have strong Java/Spring experience, REST/SOAP, messaging, and a track record of delivering secure, high-performing backend systems.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building REST/SOAP services and messaging.
• Experience with CI/CD, TDD, and unit testing (JUnit).
• Experience with NoSQL (Cassandra) and at least one RDBMS (Oracle or SQL Server).
• Experience with Kafka or MQ messaging frameworks.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, build, and support REST/SOAP APIs and integration services.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with offshore teams to provide technical guidance and resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot application defects and support production incidents.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and estimation activities. Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and release activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and support artifacts.
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability requirements are met.
