Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Software Developer to join our engineering team. You will design and develop backend services, work with geospatial data, and collaborate with senior engineers to ship reliable, well-tested software in a remote-first environment.

You will build and maintain backend systems, optimize PostgreSQL queries including PostGIS operations, and deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Working knowledge of Java and the Spring framework.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and writing complex SQL queries.
• Familiarity with PostGIS or willingness to learn geospatial concepts quickly.
• Hands-on experience with Docker; exposure to Kubernetes a plus.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote environment.
• Experience with geospatial data formats (GeoJSON, Shapefile, WKT).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using the Spring ecosystem
• Write and optimize PostgreSQL queries, including geospatial operations with PostGIS
• Package and deploy applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and participate in release processes
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to deliver features end-to-end
