Job summary

SITE Technologies is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design and evolve backend APIs and data models for geospatial data, imagery, and AI experiences. You’ll work with frontend, data teams, and stakeholders to ship reliable services and integrations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in backend development with Python, FastAPI, and relational databases, plus hands-on AWS, Docker, and CI/CD experience. Remote work from the US is available with hybrid opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with strong Python proficiency.
• Experience building production APIs with FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
• Strong understanding of relational data modeling and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with ORM like SQLAlchemy and database migrations (Alembic or Flyway).
• Experience with AWS services (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM).
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core backend APIs and services using Python and FastAPI.
• Translate complex product workflows into domain models, schemas, and API boundaries.
• Build reliable integrations across geospatial, media, reporting, asset management, and third-party systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing, and developer workflows.
• Develop ETL/data migration processes for imagery and geospatial data.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure design, security, observability, and reliability.
