Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Java-based microservices focused on geospatial analysis, ETL, and visualization. You will work across relational and NoSQL databases, delivering scalable software to support mission-critical systems.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead geospatial feature design, and mentor junior developers while upholding best practices and performance standards.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Seven years of experience in programs of similar scope and complexity
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Software Engineering (4 years additional experience may substitute for a degree)
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot (Hibernate, etc.)
• Experience with cloud-based development and deployment
• Solid geospatial database design and optimization
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Leadership experience guiding development teams

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java microservices with geospatial functionality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable software solutions
• Lead technical design and implementation of geospatial features, aligning with architecture and mission objectives
• Work with product managers to gather requirements and provide technical guidance
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers to ensure code quality and best practices
