Job summary

Fiserv, a global leader in Fintech and payments, is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to design, build, and own backend services end-to-end. You will work with an offshore team, ensure production readiness, and lead technical delivery across design, development, testing, and deployment.

You will develop scalable payment processing apps using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL/NoSQL, while collaborating to maintain pristine environments and robust operational readiness.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot, including production APIs.
• 6+ years of delivering software, leading delivery decisions.
• 6+ years of experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud deployments/operations.
• 6+ years of containerized development and modern build/release pipelines (Docker, CI/CD).
• 3+ years integrating with Snowflake and Oracle in real systems.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• Review code and enforce standards; unblock issues quickly.
• Define and implement infrastructure-as-code and manage cloud resources.
• Ensure stable environments with monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
• Develop batch/data-processing workloads with reliable retry and checkpointing patterns.
• Build features that integrate with Snowflake and Oracle and optimize SQL where needed.
• Design for maintainability and future changes; ensure disaster recovery considerations.
