Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in New York, NY is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure backend services within the Consumer and Community Banking Cobranded Cards team.

You will guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and shape AI-assisted coding practices, while ensuring robust performance and operational stability across multi-tenant financial systems.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Hands-on experience in Java, Spring, AWS, event streaming, SQL and NoSQL DB and building RESTful backend applications using Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, etc.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining API services, with knowledge of Microservices Design Patterns.
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI/ML, mobile, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine approaches.
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams on architectures and applicability.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive new technologies.
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools, including enterprise AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.
