Job summary

Citi in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Senior Java Engineer at the AVP level to design, build, and deliver mission-critical software for global financial services. This hybrid role blends hands-on Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices with end-to-end technical ownership.

You will lead cross-functional delivery, mentor engineers, and translate complex requirements into scalable solutions while advancing your technical leadership within a premier financial institution.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in software product development or technical environment, with demonstrated capacity in technical lead or project management.
• Hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices development, delivering production-grade applications.
• Proven ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle from requirements and design through release and support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
• Experience delivering projects using Agile or hybrid Agile-Waterfall methodologies.
• Ability to manage third-party technology vendors and partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build mid-to-large-scale Java applications using Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Diagnose complex performance issues, defects, and architectural flaws with root-cause analysis.
• Own the full software development lifecycle end-to-end: planning, development, testing, deployment, post-launch support.
• Define and maintain engineering standards for coding, testing and debugging.
• Champion Agile delivery and improve project throughput across teams.
• Build consensus among engineering, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• Mentor and coach engineers and pursue continuous learning.
