Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Java & Microservices Developer at AVP level to lead mission-critical backend platforms for real-time payments. You will drive cloud-native Java microservices with Spring Boot, Kafka, and AI-PDLC practices, ensuring 99.999% availability and secure service-to-service communication.

You will mentor squads, participate in design reviews, and partner with architects to translate complex regulatory requirements into robust production systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Java software engineering with Java 17/21.
• Production-grade microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and reactive paradigms.
• Kafka or RabbitMQ with partitioning, idempotency and distributed transactions.
• AI-assisted development tools and AI-PDLC practices in delivery workflows.
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift in HA envs.
• Strong security, observability, and code review discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build high-throughput, low-latency Java microservices for 24x7 processing.
• Design event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka.
• Lead AI-PDLC adoption across squads with AI tools and governance.
• Establish cloud-native services with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and mTLS.
• Ensure ISO 20022 and real-time payment protocol alignment.
• Collaborate with SRE for observability and performance testing.
