Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, CA seeks a Sr Software Engineer (Java) to lead architecture and delivery of a next-generation supply chain platform within IS&T's Sales and Operations Engineering.

You will drive distributed systems with Java, Spring, and AI/ML integration. You will mentor engineers, shape technical roadmaps, and partner with data scientists to optimize schedules using OR-Tools and real-time data streams via Kafka.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/CE or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development.
• 2+ years Java experience focusing on concurrency and performance.
• Strong OOP, data structures, algorithms, and GoF patterns.
• Experience with Spring and microservices design.
• Experience building cloud-based distributed systems.
• Experience with AI/ML production models and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture of the next-generation supply chain planning platform.
• Design distributed backend microservices in Java and Python.
• Build real-time collaboration UIs with React/TypeScript and D3.js.
• Integrate optimization solvers (OR-Tools) and AI inference into workflows.
• Create event streams with Kafka and Snowflake for real-time sync.
• Model scalable relational schemas and audit-ready event stores.
• Establish CI/CD, testing, and observability across the platform.
• Mentor engineers through architecture reviews and design sessions.
