Job summary

City of New Orleans is seeking an IT professional to install, support, and maintain servers and related systems, focusing on the RTCC data sources for the NOPD. You will plan for outages, standardize incident procedures, and present performance reports to management.

This role requires a Bachelor's or six years of equivalent experience, and you may work fixed or rotating shifts. The position is essential during emergencies and includes a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, CIS, GIS, engineering, telecommunications or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in a data center or system environment with provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure.
• Six years of progressively responsible experience in a data center or system environment with provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Install, support, and maintain servers and computer systems, and respond to outages.
• Present performance reports to managers and executives.
• Standardize incident identification, tracking, and reporting procedures.
• Develop and manage policies for records retention, data center environment, testing procedures, and backups.
• Set up and maintain Windows Server 2008, Exchange 2010, and VMware 5.1+ environments.
• Analyze faults and run diagnostics to detect problems; manage storage hardware (HDD and tape).
• Initiate preventive maintenance and repair system/environment issues.
