Job summary

Smiley Technologies is seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our System Operations team, supporting enterprise infrastructure across internal and client environments in the United States. The role emphasizes VMware, Windows Server, Linux, backup/recovery, monitoring, and reliability.

You'll collaborate with Network Operations, Cybersecurity, and Platform Engineering to keep critical systems available and secure, while providing Tier 2/3 support and automation to improve

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
• 4+ years of enterprise systems administration experience, including VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter environments, including VMs, clusters, snapshots and datastores.
• Configure, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems for performance and availability.
• Manage core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, and certificates.
• Support enterprise server hardware, storage, and firmware.
• Monitor infrastructure health and reliability; proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Manage backup and recovery processes; test restores and verify integrity.
• Provide advanced Tier 2/3 support and lead root cause analysis for incidents.
• Use PowerShell and shell scripting to automate repeatable tasks.
• Support containers and Kubernetes environments in collaboration with Platform Engineering.
• Maintain documentation and runbooks; enforce security and patch management.
