Smiley Technologies is a FinTech company providing technology to community banks across the US. We’re seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join the System Operations team, supporting enterprise infrastructure across internal and client environments.

This hands-on role focuses on VMware, Windows Server, and Linux administration, with responsibilities spanning backup, monitoring, patching, and incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of enterprise systems administration experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience supporting production infrastructure in hybrid/multi-environment or managed-services environments.
• Experience administering Windows Server 2016–2025, including AD, GPO, DNS, and certificates.
• Working knowledge of Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, Barracuda, Unitrends).
• PowerShell and/or shell scripting experience.
• Foundational understanding of containers and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter environments, including VMs, clusters, snapshots, templates, datastores and host maintenance.
• Configure, patch, monitor and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems for performance, security and availability.
• Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, certificates, and service accounts.
• Maintain server hardware, firmware and storage infrastructure.
• Monitor health, performance, capacity and availability; proactively resolve issues.
• Manage backup and recovery processes and test restores.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support; lead root-cause analyses and coordinate resolutions.
• Automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell and shell scripts; gather diagnostics.
• Support containers and Kubernetes environments in collaboration with Platform Engineering.
• Assist with patching, security, vulnerability remediation and scheduled maintenance.
• Participate in disaster recovery exercises and on-call rotations.
• Maintain technical runbooks and documentation; share knowledge with team.
