Job summary

City of Austin is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead storage, data protection, and enterprise IT operations. You will architect and optimize storage solutions, drive security and governance, and collaborate across teams to keep critical systems resilient.

The role involves mentoring staff, planning procurements, and contributing to disaster recovery efforts while working with NetApp, Rubrik and ServiceNow. Hybrid in Austin, with on-site requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree + 2 years IT experience; education may substitute for up to 4 years.
• Experience with storage solutions and data protection.
• Hybrid Austin-based role with on-site requirements and eventual travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Architect, optimize, implement, configure, and manage IT infrastructure and storage systems.
• Develop and enforce IT policies, governance, and security.
• Plan, procure, and deliver hardware/software purchases.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor staff.
